This week’s word was chosen by Junebug – pop along to her blog to see who else is taking part.
My effort for last week’s word was a bit woeful, so I had grand plans for a much longer post this week. Sadly (or not) June’s chosen word immediately scuppered that.
When I hear the word ‘witty’ the first people I think of are Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker. So I will make this another short but sweet Weekword post by giving you this little poem by Dorothy Parker. It’s entitled ‘Oscar Wilde’
If, with the literate, I am
Impelled to try an epigram,
I never seek to take the credit;
We all assume that Oscar said it.
Happy Weekwording everyone!
Dorothy Parker is so funny! This is my favourite quote of hers:
“Brevity is the soul of lingerie.”
Excellent!
