It’s been a busy week here at the shed, and I’ve had no time to blog and hardly any time to sketch. One rare pencil drawing from me this week:

A bit of a mixed bag this week… Pebbles has been to the grooming parlour and had his flowing locks clipped, so he’s not quite as much fun to draw at the moment…
Then I had an unwelcome visitor in my garden, who was nonetheless quite funny to watch (particularly when he couldn’t work out where I’d moved the peanut feeder to)…
…and finally another attempt at a shiba inu…
What I’m rapidly learning is that dogs with short hair are much harder to draw than those with long hair!

Yes, you guessed it, it’s Pebbles again…
…a brief break for some birds (clearly need more practice with birds!)…
…and one last puppy sketch.
That’s all for this week, I will have to try and put something other than a dog in my book next!

More little sketches of Pebbles the pup this week…
Not as good as the last lot, I definitely think that the watering can series is my favourite so far. I ran out of photos to work from, so I turned to some other hairy beasties…
Meet George (the big one) and Hoolie. They’re komondors, and are owned by friends of mine who live in Orkney. Hoolie is one year old this week, and will eventually have a fully corded coat like George’s.
A couple more sketches, the last two for this book as I have finally reached the end of it.
I always feel a bit emotional reaching the end of a sketchbook, but do enjoy looking back at everything and of course there’s something exciting about a new book and all those blank pages to fill!
I think I’m on my tod for the Sunday Sketchblog this week, Hayley‘s got quite a lot on her plate, and Jenna got married yesterday so please join me in wishing her all the best!

I’ve finally found my muse…
This wee scrap of a pup is called Pebbles, and I sketched him for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He’s proving to be hugely inspirational for me, so expect to see more of him in my sketchbook in the future!

I was rather hoping to have some more dog sketches to celebrate my 60th sketchblog post, but the best laid plans of mice and men… anyway, I’ve had a headache since last Sunday, and so haven’t really been able to concentrate very well. Some days it’s been excruciating, and others merely painful (don’t fret, I’m seeing my GP this week!), but either way it’s been a struggle to focus on things. As such, all I’ve managed to do in my sketchbook is doodle…
It’s very soothing, and on a practical note it’s helped me get to know my new pens a little better!
Last week Jenna had a great sketch of some flappers, I wonder what’s in her book this week?

Ok, I’ll ‘fess up – I am really bored with daffodils now. I’ve had this bunch in my studio since 11th March and although I’m determined to squeeze another sketch out of them before they go in the compost bin it’s definitely time for a change. Luckily I had some inspiration this week in the form of a new pen and bottle of ink…
Thanks must go to my friend Jayne, who sent me this book last month.
I absolutely loved it, so when my new pen inspired me I decided to have a go at drawing a client’s dog (that wee scrap of a pup is called Pebbles, and he’s a delight and a wee tinker in equal measure!). My favourite of the four dog sketches is the second, which looks most like him.
More from me next Sunday, and in the meantime why not take a peek and see what Hayley and Jenna have been up to.

Week three of the daffodils… I think they might finally be on their last legs!
For Easter greetings visit Jenna at Timballoo and see what she’s got in her sketchbook this week.

Well, last week there was a flurry of activity in my sketchbook, and I had hoped for the same this week… but it turns out that the first week of the daffodils was by far the most exciting, and I’m also coming to the conclusion that I’ve bought magic daffodils that are refusing to age and die.
Here they are on Monday…
… and here they are on Saturday…
No bloody difference! So I’ve been peering at them very intently every day, and then sighing a lot, but basically haven’t had much to draw at all. I do refuse, on principle, to draw the same thing every day just for the sake of it. So here are a few little close-ups which hopefully show the very minute changes as these magic daffodils very slowly start to age…
I trust you’ve all had a good week, and hopefully Jenna has got over her lurgy now and has something new to show off!

Another busy week here, topped off with a weekend of decorating and DIY, and to be honest I am so tired I’m amazed I’m managing to get this blog post out on time!
I loved Jenna’s sketch of an apple at various stages of being eaten, and so my little sketching project this week has been a vase of daffodils. I’ve been sketching them each day at around the same time, and having started on Monday I’ve only missed one day (yesterday).
I did actually haul my tired backside down to the studio very late last night with the intention of getting another sketch done, but upon close inspection the flowers hadn’t changed: it’s the first day all week that there’s not been a marked difference in them – clearly fate was smiling on me!
It’s my intention to continue charting the progress of the daffodils with a daily sketch until they fade entirely, so wish me luck!
If you’ve enjoyed this post then please visit Jenna and Hayley to see what they have in their sketchbooks this week.
