I’m still finding it hard to believe, but our puppy will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. We went to visit him again this morning, our first visit in over a week, and he’s grown so much. His ears and eyes are fully open, his first teeth started coming through a couple of days ago; and he and his brothers are now rambling around on their stumpy little legs, starting to play-fight with each other, and trying to get their mouths around everything they can reach. Utterly adorable.
My first attempt to draw him in colour…not very good, but practice makes perfect and I will be trying my hand at some more colour sketches of him in the coming week. Shibas often have a black ‘mask’ when they’re born (as Loki does), but this fades as they age so I am hoping to capture him properly in colour while he’s still little and then chart the changes as he gets older. This sketch was done very quickly with Derwent drawing pencils.
If you’ve got some dog drawings in your sketchbook I’d love to see them, just post a link in the comments for this page!
