…asked Gollum. Except that he wouldn’t have asked, because my most recently purchased item of clothing didn’t have any pockets at all.
It’s a great cardigan: big, warm, cheap (only £10, second hand, from Portobello Market), and cosy – perfect for dog walking… except for the lack of pockets. I mean really? This sort of cardigan is almost a coat (do not call it a “coatigan” within earshot though, or I will hit you for using a ridiculous made up word), and all good coats have pockets. What’s a girl to do?
Knit her own, obviously. So I did. I had some lovely tweed yarn left over from another project (which I’ll reveal soon, I promise), so I knit two rectangles (stocking stitch for the bulk of the pocket with a few rows of moss stitch at the top, in case you were wondering) and then sewed them on. It was that simple, and now my lovely cardigan really is perfect for dog walking!
The pockets look a little misshapen there, but I didn’t get round to taking the photo until after I’d been using it for a few days and of course if you walk around with your phone, dog treats, keys, and poo bags galore stuffed into them then the pockets will get a bit baggy. I still love them though 🙂
