Another nice simple piece by Nil227 to see the year out. It was found on the shutters of a shop just at the corner of Harrow Road and Bravington Road, W9.
I made this book in October but haven’t been able to blog about it because it was intended as a Christmas gift. The lady who ordered it asked for something feminine and pretty, and for it to feature her friend’s name. Sorry the photos aren’t great, I made the mistake of sending the book off before checking the photos were straight!
The last special edition of 2016, and it’s a selection of work I spotted in and around Brick Lane near the beginning of December.
Buon giorno! Street art all the way from Italy today. My friend Vicky visited Naples and Florence back in August and sent me these. The first one is from Naples, the rest were found in Chiasso Borgherini in Florence. I particularly like this selection as it shows a distinctive difference in style between the British street art I usually collect. I need more Italian street art to make a comparison, but this batch is definitely more artsy and less cartoony/blocky than the average bit of graffiti.
PIPPIN: I didn’t think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn’t so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn’t.”
My friend Jane has sent me street art before, and she always has excellent taste. These are all from a visit she made to Sunderland at the start of December, and although it was a tough call I think the teacups are my favourite.
