Our host for February is Sally over at Diario, so please do pop over to her blog to find out who else is playing along.  It’s been a while since I took part in the CPSH so this feels like a nice return to normality.

Inspiration

Anyone following my sketchbook over the past couple of months will know that this little fella has been very inspirational…

Something I made

My favourite of the month has got to be Gerald, the mouse I stuffed at taxidermy class.

Colour: orange

It’s got to be my pumpkin.  And look!  Inspired by our puppy 🙂

Motif: cherries

Cherry memo pad just visible in this shot, with a bonus of some apple-print paper too…

Cosy

What could be cosier than a puppy curled up with Winnie the Pooh?

Sally will be choosing her favourites over the next week or two, so please do remember to check her blog again later this month.

What’s happening next month with the Crafty Photo Scavenger Hunt?  I’m not sure!  I will check and then post the details here as soon as I’m sure.

I’m clearly not quite back in the swing of the CPSH, running a few days late, but once again it’s been busy here at the Shed.  If you’re taking part then please post a comment below to let me know, and I’ll link to your blog.  At the moment I know that Serotiny and Ruth are also back in the CPSH game, so please do visit their blogs and check out their photos!

Edited to add: Rachel at The Awesome Lady is also back in the CPSH mood!  Click here to view her photos.

Inspiration

In June I treated myself to lots of new art supplies, including a table easel and lot of pretty pencils…

Something I made

These were made on a wet day in mid-June… still haven’t added them to my Etsy shop though, must remedy that!

Reuse/recycle

It’s been one of those years when every seed sown came up, and as such I’m drowning in tomato plants.  Ran out of pots, so had to repurpose some old tins…

Tea

Had a wonderful visit to Kew Gardens at the start of June, and my current favourite thing there is the Rose Garden Tea Party (part of their IncrEdibles summer festival)

Happiness

My studio and garden have been a constant source of happiness this past month.  The garden looks incredible at the moment: filled with a profusion of roses, and the scent wafts into the studio (together with the odd bumble bee, which has to be gently shooed out).

First of all, many apologies for the unscheduled break last month – I’m afraid I was very poorly organised and didn’t get around to sorting out any topics.  Still, hopefully you’ll all be back this month feeling refreshed after the little hiatus!  We did have one participant: Serotiny over at Hundred Acre Farm decided to use the topics from last May (I’m really impressed, I don’t think I’d have thought to do that!) and I must admit to being somewhat jealous of her photos from Dublin (I’ve never been, but it’s on my list!).  I’ve been really lax at getting round to commenting on other blogs properly, so this is a very belated but warm welcome from me.  Hello! 🙂

I’m running a few days late already so, without further ado, here are the topics for June:

cpshjunetopics

The Rules:

On the 1st of each month the host will post 5 categories.

Two categories will be the same every month: ‘Something you made’ and ‘inspiration’. The other three will change each time. You have the rest of the month to take a photo for each category.

By the last day of the month you should post your photos in a blog post and let the host know by either e-mailing them or posting a comment on their blog – make sure you give them the url of your blog so that they know where to link to.  The host will link to every participant’s photos and will also choose a favourite for each category and post them on their blog a few days into the new month.

Our host for April is Sally over at Diario, so please do pop over to her blog to find out who else is playing along.

Inspiration

If you’ve been following my blog then it won’t have escaped your notice that I’ve been pretty busy on the sketching front, inspired by a wee scrap of a pup called Pebbles.  This is technically a terrible photo, but I love it because it was a quiet moment at work on my birthday.  Pebbles is prone to naughtiness, and when he’s been particularly naughty (breaking into the vegetable garden for the umpteenth time…) he earns himself a smacked bottom and then he’s ignored.  He hates being ignored, and it leads to him grovelling for forgiveness.  This photo is him trying to inveigle himself  back into my good books… and as you can see from the hand reaching to stroke him, he was successful!

inspiration

Something I made

Still haven’t added this to my shop, but it’s probably my favourite of all the books I made this month.  The pages are a mixture of cartridge paper, watercolour paper and pastel paper, and the hard covers are bound with canvas – so you can draw inside and out!

made

Red

One of my favourite colours, so I loved this topic!  My favourite jacket is actually grey, but it’s got red and white polka dot edging in it, and I tend to wear it with this brooch (by the lovely Lise at Belle & the Bean, better known these days for her fabulous blog), and recently this scarf I picked up down Portobello Market.

red

Rocks

I meant to take a photo of actual rocks, but got caught short (I forgot that April only has thirty days!) and this was a last minute substitute.  Gravel, and York stone… cultivated rocks?

rocks

Motif: Western

A really tricky topic for me!  In the end I remembered that we have these little plant pots, which is the closest I could get to western…

Sally will be choosing her favourites in the next week or so, so please do remember to check her blog again later this month.

What’s happening next month with the Crafty Photo Scavenger Hunt?  If the rota is to be believed then Jenna over at Timballoo is our host for May… but she’s just got married and I’m not sure if she’s away on honeymoon at the moment, so I need to double check!  Keep an eye out here for updates.

Our host for March was Ruth over at The Goldhawk Project, so please do pop over to her blog to find out who else is playing along.  I cannot apologise to Ruth enough for being so ridiculously tardy with my photos for March… I have no excuse other than just being crap – I’m so sorry (it’s my birthday today, so you have to forgive me! 😉 )

Inspiration

March for me was all about the sketching, and daffodils in particular.

Something I made

My favourite finished object was my new handbag

Beast

Couldn’t resist this fox, spotted at the Spring Knitting & Stitching show.

Numbers

An odd one, but I did buy some pretty new things with numbers on!

Quiet

I struggled with this topic, but I think this photo will do – poor Scooby will never hear again after having his ears ripped off by the wee mutt in the background!

Our host for February is Rachel over at The Awesome Lady, so please do pop over to her blog to find out who else is playing along.  I’m running really late with my photos this month and spent most of this morning trying to think of things to photograph – eek!

Inspiration

I like to jot down quotes and poems in a wee notebook, which occasionally gets flicked through when I’m looking for inspiration.  This particular notebook isn’t one of mine, it’s a Celeste Frittata creation.

Something I made

Despite the various commissions I’ve done this month, my favourite thing has been this rather frivolous use of time and paint

made

New

I love it when a new season is on the horizon: at the moment I’m enjoying early spring bulbs and watching the blossom buds start to swell on trees.

new

Baking

Annoyingly I did actually bake a cake this month, but failed to photograph it!  Instead here’s a quick shot of one of the many, many recipe books littering our kitchen.

Motifs: Triangles

I was really quite stuck for this subject, then I sat down at my desk in despair and when I looked up the answer was staring me in the face: kirigami, stuck to my studio wall!

Rachel will be choosing her favourites over the next week or two, so please do remember to check her blog again later this month.  The favourites from January haven’t gone up yet due to unforeseen circumstances, but Sarah over at Cinders & Rain will have them up in the next day or so.

Our host for this month is Sara over at Cinders & Rain, so please do pop over to her blog to find out who else is playing along.

Inspiration

Last month my inspiration was actually motivation, and that motivation was fuelled by the need to earn money.  Not very artistic, but truthful.  This month my inspiration is equally truthful and just as unglamorous!  I have mainly been making things based on the ‘what needs using up?’ principle…

inspiration

Something I made

Well, one of the plus sides of attacking anything in my path this month has been the sheer variety of books I’ve made.  I was a bit spoilt for choice…

Resolutions

A little close up of my Mollie Makes calendar page for January says it all…

Retro

What could be more delightfully retro than some Enid Blyton?

Motifs: Sequins

This category gave me The Fear when I first saw it.  I own precisely one item of clothing with sequins on, and it’s a summer top that hasn’t seen the light of day for a good few years.  What to do?  I was slightly worried I’d have to go out and start looking for a pearly king to photograph!  My luck was in though, I received a travelling craft box (long story) in the post last week and inside it was the perfect thing… not traditional sequins, but I jumped on them nonetheless!

January is vanishing at a rate of knots, so it’s about time I got my act together and chose my favourites from December!

Inspiration

I have two favourites in this category, Margot’s cup of tea, and Nicole’s stunning sunset.

inspiration - gok

inspiration - tulsi

Something I made

My favourite has to be Nicole’s steaming dish of tagine… it might be vegetarian (I’m very firmly a carnivore!), but it does look good!  An honorary mention goes to Sally for her use of sparklers 🙂

made - gok

made - diario

Gifts

I haven’t the foggiest what a dunny is, but I do like the look of this one as photographed by Sara over at Cinders & Rain.

gifts - cinders

Tradition

I have a fondness for records, which made choosing a favourite in this category very easy!  This is Margot’s shot of a record containing four Christmas stories which she listens to every year.

tradition - tulsi

Motif: Stars

Simple, but effective, I really liked this shot of stars by Rachel over at The Awesome Lady.

stars - awesomelady

Thanks so much for taking part this month, it’s been lovely as always to see what you’ve chosen to post, and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to pick my favourites.  My honorary favourite this month is Ruby the cat, photographed by Ruth – such a beautiful cat!

I’ll start off with a list of those people who are taking part – please do visit their blogs and have a look at their entries for this month.  If they haven’t posted their photographs yet then please be patient and check again later!

Inspiration

Sadly December hasn’t been so much about inspiration as motivation, and at this time of year that motivation is very banal…

inspiration

Something I made

A very last minute photo, and item, for this category – I finished this book about ten minutes ago, my last notebook of 2012!

made

Gifts

Like a complete numpty I forgot to take photos of any presents while they were wrapped up… so here’s a close up of one of the beautiful vintage tins that my sister-in-sin gave me.

gifts

Tradition

What’s more traditional than baubles on a tree?

tradition

Motif: Stars

And to contrast with the traditional photo, here’s one of my rather simplified tree.

stars

As usual I’ll be doing the rounds and will pick my favourites from the other blogger’s photos and will post them on here within the next fortnight.

Many apologies for being SO late choosing my favourites for November, but December has been a busy month.  Without further ado, here they are…

Inspiration

Ruth‘s shot of the skyline in Salzberg caught my eye, and just goes to show that you can take a photo into the light!

inspiration - goldhawk

Something I made

I really liked Rachel’s wish jar, but Sally just edged into the top spot with her wonderfully starry cake 🙂

made - diario

Fireworks

Shame on those of you who didn’t manage to get photos of actual fireworks – I managed to get two!  Ruth‘s shot of some hot sauce made me laugh, but I’m afraid the favourite in this category is the only one of real fireworks…

fireworks - awesome

History

Margot‘s shot of a monument in Dhaka being devoured by a tree is beautiful, and I do love seeing nature reclaiming man-made things so this one was easy to choose 🙂

history - tulsi

Flames

My joint favourites in this category were Ruth‘s candelabra shot, and Margot‘s photo of an old lady cooking dinner.  Both of them are so beautifully atmospheric!

flames - goldhawk

flames - tulsi

Thanks so much for taking part in November, I’ve enjoyed seeing all your photos and I’m just really sorry it’s taken me so long to choose my favourites.  I will be less tardy with the December favourites, I promise!

Sara over at Cinders & Rain will be our host in January, so don’t forget to visit her blog next week to find out what the topics are!
