Today we arrived back in London after our annual jaunt to Scotland. Here are the postcards I painted in Orkney, plus one special one from Yorkshire.

Due back from my holiday today so I think it’s a good time to show the postcards I sent while I was in Orkney. All quite simple scenes from my trip, drawn in ink and then filled in with watercolour.

During the neverending tidy up of my studio I realised something: I have far too much paper.  Not something I ever thought I’d say, but even I have limits.  A lot of it is beautiful, and would make lovely covers for notebooks… but I could be making notebooks from dawn until dusk every day for a month and still not get through my stash.  What’s a woman to do?  I decided to make some sets of postcards from some of the paper, backing the pretty designs with some cream card.  Simple, but they look great.  There are nine sets available in my Etsy shop, all of which are a one-off.

You might remember that, a couple of weeks ago, I attended a print gocco workshop run by Xtina Lamb.  I really enjoyed the workshop and fell completely in love with print gocco.  Since then I’ve been thinking of designs (and buying up as many supplies as I can afford), and this week my plotting bore fruit and I now have a small range of cards available in my Etsy shop.

At the moment I have three designs: a birthday card , an illustration of a dandelion clock (entitled ‘Make a Wish’ ), and a playful illustration of a pup.  Three very different styles, but I’ve been bubbling with ideas and couldn’t settle on just one style just now so I did a bit of everything!  I’m planning to add more designs to the range but will probably wait another month or so before doing that (need to sell the cards I’ve already made first!).

Are there any designs you’d like to see?

I’m a little late this month, but better late than never.  For those who are looking at this post and wondering what it’s about, click here to visit Kirst’s blog and find out.

My entries this month all revolve around post/mail, and I’ve continued using the Vignette app on my Android phone as I really love the look 🙂

Something I made

This is actually a work in progress, a cigar box being slowly decoupaged with stamps.

Inspiration

A shot of some of the Inspiration by Post submissions I’ve yet to tackle.

Motifs: Florals

Used stamps, all featuring flowers in their design.

Crafts on the Go

This parcel is chock full of handcrafted goodies.  It’s being sent round in a swap where each recipient helps themself to items from the box before adding some of their own and sending it onwards.

Vintage

These vintage postcards were passed onto me by a friend of a friend… not sure what I’m going to do with them as yet, but they’re fabulous.

Last week I made a start on making some stationery from an old A-Z.  I’ve since made a few more bits to go with the previous items.

A set of six postcard-style notecards

A set of six regular notecards

and a set of six postcards.

The previous set of notecards had matching envelopes, also hand crafted from A-Z pages.  This proved very time-consuming though, so I dug out some regular cream coloured envelopes from my stash to use with these.

These will be added to my Etsy shop today.
